The Pebble or the Rock

Which has the greater impact, the pebble or the rock? Many people would think the heavier stone, the rock, would have the greatest impact. I don't believe this choice to be true. When a heavy stone is thrown into a pond, it sinks to the bottom. However, when a pebble is thrown into the pond, it lingers near the surface and creates ripples. This effect happens because it's lighter. Can you imagine when we have Christ in our lives and have released the burdens of guilt, shame, hurt, envy, poor relationships, resentment, and low self-esteem, how much lighter we could be? Our pride, ego, and inability to lift others up, keeps us heavy and unable to heal and move forward. By being light, we make the greatest impact by becoming focused, happier, and more pleasant to be around. We are able to thrive and live on purpose.

Just think about it. When we lighten ourselves from the things that serve no positive purpose, the impact is felt from the inner to the outer ring. The first ring that will benefit from the impact is our family, second is our friends, third ring is our colleagues, and the fourth ring is our community. The fifth ring and beyond represents our country and the world. Our impact is only limited to what we choose it to be.

Beloved I encourage you to reflect on which stone you are- the pebble or the rock. My prayer is for you to lighten your burdens, give them to the Lord, and let Him use you in a mighty way that will positively impact those around you.

No Need To Starve

It's widely known that correctional institutions would serve bread and water to prisoners who ended up in solitary confinement as a form of punishment due to being violent and/or unruly. Although bread or a loaf-like mixture of many foods along with water had the necessary nutrients to sustain the prisoner, the monotony of having to endure eating this three times a day, for several days or even weeks, was enough to negatively impact the prisoner's physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.

Why do I bring this up? So often we go through life shackled and in bondage like a prisoner from low self-esteem, unprocessed emotions from traumatic childhood experiences, jealousy, envy, and unforgiveness. Through self-sabotage, we dull the pain with the temporary fix of drugs, alcohol, gambling, and promiscuity. We use these dysfunctional techniques to fill a void because we are hurt and empty.

Sharing from experience, I know this emptiness all to well. We can go our whole lives trying to fill our emptiness with the things of this world, but we will never be truly satisfied. That's why they're temporary and will always lead to trouble. The devil delights in our despair. So if you are sick and tired of being sick and tired of eating like a prisoner then I encourage you to break free from the chains of self-hate, drama, and depression!
Praise God I now know an eternal source that is the Living Bread. And if you accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour, He will sustain you so that you will never starve (John 6:35). If you believe, the Holy Spirit will dwell from within and flow like Living Water (John 4:13-14) and (John 7:37-39). I pray for your shackles to be released and for you to hunger and thirst no more.

Steps To Becoming A Thriver

There's power in our words and our actions give life to those words. In any traumatic experience such as domestic violence, sexual assault, or even losing a loved one, there are necessary steps that should be taken to move a person from surviving/existing to thriving. In my humble opinion, there is a difference. Step by step, a beautiful journey of healing, self-care, and eventually finding purpose from the pain will be discovered.

I believe that healing consists of acknowledging what you experienced, restoring your broken soul, and forgiving (self and others). We must be honest enough with ourselves to grieve the lost of our innocence, our trust, a relationship, and/or the love we held for someone dear to us.

Next, self-care is critical. That may come in the form of counseling, a good cry, support groups, journaling, long walks or drives, as well as soaking in a lavender bubble bath. Whatever the methods, let it be positive and nurturing to YOU. Last but not least, find purpose from the pain. No matter what we go through, good or bad, there is a lesson to be learned. Within that lesson bares fruit of humility, strength, and resiliency. Through it all, find the purpose and it will birth your passion.

Overall, be gentle with yourself. Don't suppress the hurt and pain. This will do more harm than good. It can take a toll mentally, physically, and emotionally. Denial feeds dysfunction and God can't heal what we conceal. So keep it real with yourself. By following these steps, every relationship you have will benefit from your journey to thrive. Most importantly, YOU will be a better person from it. Life is too short. It is my prayer that you don't give up on life and live it to the fullest. I don't want you to just exist. I want you to be Unstoppable!

The Common Denominator

When I look back on all my poor relationships, whether platonic or intimate, there was a common theme. I figured I could change those people's behaviors towards me if I loved harder and stronger. I gave, and they took. Before I knew it, I was depleted, depressed, and doubted my existence. Because I didn't realize my self-worth (due to suppressed low self-esteem), it showed in the pattern of toxic relationships I allowed myself to be involved in. They served no positive purpose and I kept getting the short end of the stick every time. I was imploding from the inside out and my low self-esteem was the pathway to self-destructive behaviors. Worst yet, no one knew what I was personally going through because the mask with the bright smile I wore in public, hid the hurt, pain, shame, and guilt.
It wasn't until I got to my "sick and tired of being sick and tired" point, that I realized it wasn't my job to change those people who mistreated me. However, it was my responsibility to look within and change myself. Through self-reflection and looking deeper, I had to ask myself "How could I get the same negative results from different people?" As hard as it was to accept, I was the common denominator. I was the main factor in each experience. Although it doesn't make it right for anyone to mistreat another person, it was in my control to determine how long, if at all, was I willing to put up with their horrible conduct. This decision can only come from having love and joy by starting from within. I had to stand on God's word and believe that I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalms 139: 14 KJV).
It is my desire to share my story because I know I am not the only one who experienced these toxic relationships and was delusional enough to believe that I could be all the other person ever needed; that by completely giving of myself, they would love me the way I desired them to. This was an unrealistic expectation because at the time I didn't know how to love myself.
There is hope for each and every person who struggles to find love and acceptance in a pattern of abusive relationships. We must nurture the little girl or boy inside and give them the unconditional love they rarely received. It is important to understand that the devil wants us to stay broken and pass the burned out torch to our children. If the devil can keep us down, dysfunctional, and depressed, then that is one less person who is walking in their true purpose and living passionately like there is no tomorrow. I pray that you will take the steps to release the toxic shackles that hold you back and down from living the way God desires for you. Take the steps to heal from any hurt and pain. Take the steps to forgive yourself and eventually those who hurt you. Once this takes place, you will be the common denominator for positive relationships in your life filled with a light that no one can extinguish.
May God bless you always beloved.

Who's In Your Boat?

I believe there are three types of people that come into our lives.

*The Rower-A person who is actively trying to help you get up the creek or help shift the current in your favor. This person could be praying for your success, cheering you on and encouraging others to do the same, and/or watching your back while you focus on what lies ahead. Overall, The Rower is a person that makes a positive impact in your life.

*The Sleeper-A person who is just a long for the ride. They are not actively doing anything to help you achieve your goals. Most times they are sleeping on their purpose and therefore can't help support yours. I consider The Sleeper dead weight serving no positive purpose. Be careful because their snoring (gossiping, unfulfilled promises, hoarding information, and lack of action) can cause you to lose focus.

*The Driller-A person who is unhappy with the direction their boat is going in so they hitch a ride in yours for the purpose of drilling holes in it. Then they quickly jump out and happily watch you sink. They have the toxic mindset of "If I can't succeed, neither will you!" These type of people have an evil spirit of jealousy, boasting, and backstabbing. Beware! The white teeth you see from their smile is hiding the serpent tongue in their mouth.

I pray that I have been The Rower in your life in some aspect. Life is hard enough as it is, so I also pray for wisdom and discernment to know who is The Rower, The Sleeper, or The Driller. Last but not least, take some time to look down in the water at your own reflection to answer the question "Who's In Your Boat?" Instead of rowing your own boat, you maybe sleeping or self-sabotaging your purpose in life.

Have an Unstoppable You Day!

15 Tips To Finish Your Race Making An Impact

Recently I attended a funeral held for a dear woman that I had only known for a few years.  But in that short period of time she made a huge impact on my life personally and professionally.  This amazing woman of God had touched so many lives that at her funeral it appeared to be at least a thousand people in attendance.  It was literally standing room only.  I was inspired by the diverse crowd of all races, young and old, democrat and republican, all sitting together celebrating her life.  This beautiful woman of 74 years young, left a positive and lasting legacy not just for her family, but at the local, state, and even national level.  She was extremely active in several churches, organizations, and even was the co-founder of a few.  Her biography read like a good novel.

I was so honored to witness this celebration of life that I felt compelled to do a Facebook live video (https://www.facebook.com/jennifer.foxworthy.3/videos/1215700165127208/).  I had posed the question to all who viewed it "How will you finish the race and make an impact?"

It states in 2 Timothy 4:7 "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." (NIV).  Often times this scripture is quoted at funerals to encourage those in mourning that the deceased has lived an abundant and impactful life.

If you are unsure on how to run YOUR race and what reward awaits you at the finish line, these 15 tips with Christian scriptures will guide you.

1.  Tap into your potential.  Everybody has the potential (Philippians 4:13) to do great and amazing things. Ultimately, will you sit on the sidelines and watch life pass you by or will you participate and get in the race?  It is hard to make an impact if your time, talent, and gifts are not being utilized to the fullest.

2.  Eat right.  God blessed us with the nourishment of His word, the bible.  It is our daily bread (Luke 11:3) and guides us on how we are supposed to live.  In order to fight temptation, one must be rooted in scripture daily.

3.  Wear the proper clothing for the race.  In order to live a righteous and impactful life, putting on the Full Armor of God (Ephesians 6: 10-18) is necessary.  When wearing the armor, you are protected from head to toe, which makes it hard for the enemy's evil spirits to penetrate.

4.  Keep your head up and stay focused.  Prayer is powerful and is our direct communication to God (1 John 5:14).  In order to listen to God's voice and reduce distractions, it will be essential to seek wisdom and discernment (Colossians 1:9-10).  Praying for wisdom and discernment will help you navigate through life's trials and tribulations.

5.  Stretch.  This is God's opportunity to challenge you to go beyond your comfort zone (John 16:33).  During this phase of your journey it can be uncomfortable, but worth it in the end.  It demonstrates your ability to step out on faith and do God's will, which is to live on purpose as He desires for you.

6. Ensure you have a good coach.  I encourage you to find someone who is making a difference and can properly guide you in all the areas of life (Proverbs 27:17).  You may need several coaches (physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and professionally) and that is ok.  It is not a sign of weakness asking for help (Proverbs 17:17).

7.  Pep talk.  There maybe days to where you feel alone and think the world is against you.  This is the opportunity to dig down deep and encourage yourself to not give up and keep going (2 Chronicles 15:7).

8.  Know where your cheering section is located.  Your cheering section consist of people who genuinely have your back (Proverbs 12:26).  That will pray, support, uplift, and push you to be the best you can be.  Overall, this is your "A Team."  Note: be careful who you invite to be in your cheering section.  Not every smiling face is for you.  The schemes of the enemy come in many forms.  This is why tip #4 is so important.

9.  Endurance.  You were built for your race.  God knew you before you were formed in your mother's womb (Psalms 139:13-16).  It requires patience with yourself and others.  It is not how fast you run but the impact you make along the way.  Just keep moving!

10.  Keep a steady pace.  By having a steady pace in your race you can last longer.  Don't try to be perfect, but be consistent (Ecclesiastes 9:10).

11.  Stay in your lane.  This tip is very important to understand.  When you lose focus and get distracted on how other people are running their race, you run the risk of crossing into their lane.  When this happens you can get disqualified (2 Corinthians 10:12) .  You are fearfully and wonderfully made, which makes you unique.  Embrace who you are and Whom you ultimately belong to. By being authentic, you realize that you no longer have to compete with others or covet what they have.  Once you understand this, any evil spirit of jealousy and greed will disappear.  By staying in your lane, you are able to walk in your purpose (Ephesians 1:11).

12.  Help an injured runner.  We are our brother's and sister's keeper (Colossians 4:5-6).  This is not meant to say that we enable them through life, but uplift and encourage them.  To run past someone in need is not what God intended for us to do.  Remember the Golden Rule "Do unto others as you would want them to do unto you."  God made us to be of service to others.  Your act of kindness and compassion can speak life into someone (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10).

13.  Overcome the hurdles.  You can overcome the obstacles in your race, regardless if they are self-imposed or made by external sources.  No matter if you jump over it or go around, obstacles are temporary and can be an opportunity to learn valuable lessons.  Just hold on to God's unchanging hand (James 1:12).

14.  Passing the baton.  The baton is the legacy that you pass down to the next generation (Deuteronomy 6:5-7).  Will you make a positive impact on those around you and leave a legacy of inspiration or will it be filled with dysfunction and negativity (Titus 3:10).  This will depend on how you run your race.

15.  Leave the track in better condition than what you found it.  Make a difference in the world by being a productive citizen of society and in your family.  Growth starts from the inside out.  So if you are unstable so will your house.  If your house is not built on a solid foundation then it may impact the community in which you live.  Therefor, be a person that unites and not divides (2 Timothy 4:1-22).

At the end of your race, your reward will be eternal life in heaven.  Matthew 25:23 (NIV) "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant!  You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.  Come and share your master's happiness.'"  As Christians this is what we should hope to hear.  Now run Your Race!

Delay or Denial Does Not Always Mean Defeat.

When I retired in 2013 from the U.S. Navy after 21.7 years, I stepped out on faith to start my business Inspirationally Speaking, LLC as a professional motivational speaker. In addition, I was simultaneously writing my first book to self-publish. I prayed, planned, researched, and got mentors because I knew the make or break point for a small start-up business was between three to five years, and I needed to give myself the best chance to succeed. Like any company, I needed clients to take a chance and give my services a try. I made phone calls, mailed letters, sent emails, attended networking events, scheduled meetings, asked for referrals, and followed up on everything. Some doors opened and many other times my direct approach (the elevator) had me chasing my tail, only to get delayed and denied. Even though I was discouraged, I focused my energy elsewhere and figured the doors I wanted to open, were just not for me.

Now, I am coming up on my third year business anniversary. I have kept God first, tried to remain humble, and built a consistent brand. I am here to testify that the doors that I peeked through or that never opened for me, are about to swing wide open that not even the devil can shut. I didn't realize it in the beginning, but I understand now that God is the ultimate strategist. The route he had me take (the stairs) was long, windy, and unknown. Although my journey has been exhausting (and still have a ways to go), it has taken me to a huge penthouse filled with people who are willing to come alongside the vision. Contrary to the route I tried to take earlier, it would have led to a small janitor's closet with mice and roaches. So please stay encouraged and don't despise small or slow beginnings. Do not give up, sometimes the reward is bigger than you can imagine when you have to climb the stairs. The direct and easy route may not always be the best or safest. Habakkuk 2:3 "For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay." Trust the process and know that a delay or denial does not always mean defeat.

The Spiritual Growth of an Unstoppable You Woman

Because of my own journey, I know that their is a spiritual growth that I have experienced to get to where I am now. I didn't always have the mindset to be an Unstoppable You Woman.

When I really took the time to read and digest 2Timothy 3:6, I had to admit that I was a weak-willed woman. I was ‪#‎Broken‬ and ‪#‎Vulnerable‬ looking for love and acceptance.
Then I digested the true example of Proverbs 31:10-26 which explained what I should be. Once I got to my sick and tired of being sick and tired point, I surrendered to God's will. It wasn't easy changing old habits but necessary. This is when I began to be ‪#‎Restored‬. I couldn't truly pour out into another if I was empty. Because of my restoration journey, I can be the mother and wife God called me to be.
Last but not least, I had to digest Titus 2:3-5 to be ‪#‎Complete‬ and ‪#‎Authentic‬. By doing so, I could be a positive example for other women, young and old. Sharing our wisdom, testimonies, and teaching can be extremely beneficial. That's how we give back, walk in our God given purpose, and be an Unstoppable You Woman.

Getting Rid of the Garbage

On my last tour in the Navy, I transitioned from military warfare as a Naval Aircrewman to military welfare as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor. During my training to be certified, I learned many tools to help the patients understand that certain people, places, and things can be triggers, which can jeopardize their recovery. In addition, understanding emotions and feelings, while utilizing healthy coping skills was critical to enjoying a life of sobriety.
These lessons I had learned to help others, would prove invaluable in my own journey to clearing out the clutter and garbage. If someone made me upset or frustrated, those negative emotions led to toxic behaviors. It took me a while to self-reflect and get to the root of the issue. On the surface my emotions were anger, sadness, depression, and so on. However, below the surface was the feeling of hurt. Many times I didn't want to look under the surface because of what it might reveal. Why did I feel HURT? Because of EXPECTATIONS. I experienced many let downs because I had high expectations of others. I put them on a pedestal holding them to the same morals and values that I had. And just like flawed human beings, they didn't live up to my standards. So I became disappointed and suppressed my feelings, mixed it with low self-esteem, and BOOM BAM just like that, I had a recipe of DYSFUNCTION! I didn't realize my denial fed the suppressed sewage of negative emotions that bubbled inside. Eventually, it had spewed out like toxic waste threatening to ruin everything I loved, starting with myself.
Finally, I was faced with dealing with my mess because God was trying to take me places, but my baggage was heavy. I had to lighten my load in order to walk in my purpose. I needed to acknowledge what led to the baggage of self-pity, jealousy, depression, low self-esteem, fear, and worry. Believe me, I am a work in progress. I didn't change my standards, but I applied wisdom to the expectations of others and myself. This shift led to healing and ultimately forgiveness.

If you are struggling to get from under your baggage, I encourage you to go below the surface and acknowledge the hurt, restore your broken spirit, and eventually you will have the peace to forgive. God needs you to pack light beloved so that He can reveal the amazing things just for YOU!

A Closed Mouth Won't Get Fed

Have you ever experienced something that challenged your comfort zone? God has an amazing way of pulling us out of our comfort zone to not only walk in our purpose and to do His will, but for us to work on certain shackles in hopes of becoming better people. Well for me I am working on the shackle of pride. Many of you know, that doing a women's conference was never on my list of goals. I had never attended one prior to mine. So when God gave me the vision to organize the Unstoppable You Women's Conference, I figured it was my burden alone to bare. Needless to say, I learned many tough lessons along the way. I was afraid to ask for help, for fear of people saying no or not following through. My pride blinded my sight. Overall, that old saying applied, "A closed mouth won't get fed" or maybe you heard of "You have not, because you ask not." Humility was a key lesson learned.
I have come to realize and understand, that when God calls you to do something, He provides all the resources to be successful. God showed me that all the networking events I attended and the collection of business cards I gathered was for a reason. So now I am opening my mouth and letting people know what I need. And if by chance I am told "no" or "not right now," I can respect that and move forward. But if I never ask, I will never know and I will continue to do without. Being Unstoppable You is a never ending journey of self-reflection and self-improvement. Unstoppable You is the person who seeks help, knowing they can't do it all alone. Be encouraged and put your pride aside.

Releasing the Shackles to be Unstoppable You and Live ON Purpose

It is not by coincidence, but Divine design, that my conference is called Unstoppable You and my television show is called Living Unshackled ON Purpose. God alone put those titles on my heart and I followed through. Although the names are different, the meaning behind them are one in the same. They both require individual effort and accountability. My level of being unstoppable could be different from yours, as well as, the shackles that I released (and continue to do so) may be different.
I want you to know and understand, until you identify your shackles and begin to release those strongholds on your life, it will be hard to reach YOUR full UNSTOPPABLE potential. The shackle of fear, jealousy, resentment, past hurts, and anything else that consumes you, will keep you in a state of existing instead of living a purposeful life that God desires for you. It will continue to be everyone else's fault of why you are not experiencing true joy and fulfillment. Overall, these chains are toxic and will ruin your health and any personal/professional relationships you have. I know from personal experience because I was a slave to my own dysfunction, depression, and despair. On the surface I appeared to be doing great but on the inside, I was slowly dying inside. I didn't understand why I kept getting the same results. After being sick and tired of being sick and tired, I realized through soul searching, that I was the common denominator. And thus began the hard work to find my personal peace, purpose, and power. This is my business motto and I work at it everyday.
I pray that this inspires and motivates you in someway to release the shackles to be UNSTOPPABLE YOU and LIVE ON PURPOSE!

How Does Your Perspective Dictate Your Priorities?

It wasn't very long ago when I was stumbling through life without a moral compass. I took God on and off the shelf when it was convenient for me. I found myself in debt, made repeated bad choices in relationships, didn't honor my body as the temple it was meant to be, and never took the time to figure out who I truly was. On top of all that, I was always trying to fit in where I was clearly meant to stand out. Overall, my priorities were out of order. It took many hard lessons of hitting rock bottom for me to finally self-reflect and get my priorities straight. Although it was hard to accept, I was the common denominator for my dysfunction, depression, and despair.

I understand now that my perspective on life dictates my priorities and I no longer want to come up short. I am the daughter of the Most High, the King of all kings! I am fearfully and wonderfully made! If you can relate, I encourage you to do a gut check. Is your perspective on life centered around self-destruction or self-improvement?

Now is the time to be Unstoppable You!

Like Autumn Leaves, Change and Let Go

Although it is hard to admit, throughout my life I overextended myself so that others would see me for who I was and what I brought to the table. I thought by being superwoman, I could change them. If I loved harder and stronger, they would change and love me back. What I received in return was disappointment and more dysfunction. I now realize through my journey, that the love I needed started with ME. That change had to start with me. Self-love, self-respect, and self-esteem is so important to feeling at peace and living on purpose. Like the leaves that fall from the tree on an autumn day, I needed to change and let go. I had to recognize when my purpose had been served and move on with my life. It's very hard for something that is alive and something that is dead to stay attached whether physically, emotionally, or spiritually.

I pray this encourages someone today to reflect and reevaluate who or what they are trying to stay attached to.

Three Monkey Parenting: Your Child Deserves Better

Just thinking..Are WE giving our children all the tools to safely navigate this world? Are WE being the positive examples our children need and deserve? If WE are willing teach our children how to look both ways to safely cross the street, then WE as adult caretakers need to go deeper, and talk about the uncomfortable topics that could leave lasting emotional and mental scars, if WE don't. WE can't afford to parent like the three monkeys covering up our eyes, mouth, and ears when it comes to domestic violence, rape, low self-worth, child sexual abuse, and so on. If WE want to make a difference, then WE must do our part and start an open dialog. What WE don't teach them at home, the world will, and the lessons won't be so kind. WE owe it to our children.

Let's Fly Like Geese!

There is definite truth in the saying "birds of a feather flock together". We can learn something from geese who always fly in a V formation when migrating. It has significant value, which in turn we can apply to how we treat those we hold dear.

According to research, the V formation helps conserve energy. Each bird flies slightly above the bird in front of him, resulting in a reduction of wind resistance. The birds takes turns being in the front, falling back when they get tired. Because of this, the geese can fly longer before needing to rest. The second value of the V formation is that it is easy to keep track of every bird in the group. Flying in formation may assist with the communication and coordination within the group.  There are several other benefits of flying in a V formation.  All of it improves teamwork, whether personally or professionally.

Lesson: when we have each others back, we can go further. Everyone has an opportunity to lead, no one's job is more important than the other. When we stick together, assumptions or are reduced because the communication is fluid throughout, no one gets left behind.

So, who's in your V formation?

The Light Within

As I walk in my purpose, my reality is sometimes scary. I tell you no lie, there are days when I want to stop in my tracks and retreat. But God spoke to me today and told me that He is using me as His lighthouse. That through my actions, I am supposed to draw those who are broken, lost crashing in the waves, and struggling to keep their head above water.  By my actions and words, I am guiding them into the safety of His loving arms. Overall, the lighthouse gives reassurance that He is always there. The light that people see, is Jesus Christ which shines through me.

God is also the foundation that the lighthouse was built. God encouraged me that people see me as a beacon of hope and inspiration, that if "Jennifer can do it, I know I can too." God said no matter what, I have to shine bright. There will be many times when the devil will try and cut the electricity, but that's when I pick up a flashlight to keep shining. When the batteries run down from the flashlight, I must pick up a candle until that flame flickers out.

Bottom line is to never give up. For me, not giving up requires a lot of work to stay balanced and be the person God wants me to be. I can't praise Him on Sunday and condemn others on Monday. I will never be perfect but I can do my best to be consistent.

When you take a look at this picture you may say "Big deal! It's a lighthouse." But this beautiful lighthouse represents so much more. On the outside it doesn't look very appealing. This lighthouse is weathered and stained. Not only that, but it stands alone. Just like this lighthouse, that's how God uses us best, when we are tarnished and broken. But what's so amazing, is that on the inside of this lighthouse is a light that shines so bright that it attracts so many. This lighthouse represents God's goodness, mercy, and grace. It's a resource for safety, refuge, and redemption. This is how your test becomes your testimony!

I encourage you to be a lighthouse and let God's love shine bright through you.

Unshackled by Forgiveness

I am humbled and honored to see another day. Through my journey, I can testify of how God's favor and mercy have truly kept me even when I didn't deserve it. After I got out of my abusive nightmare, then came the long road of healing. What transitioned me from survivor to thriver? It was the personal act of forgiving. It wasn't for my ex-boyfriend's sake, it was for mine. Not only did I forgive him, but I forgave myself, and anyone else who I held responsible for my circumstances. Words can't express how freeing it was. Once I put it in my mind and heart to forgive, I immediately felt the weight come off. The negative emotions of anger, sorrow, resentment, and depression were baggage that kept me sinking further into the abyss.
It is amazing how something so simple but yet so hard to do, kept me shackled for so long.  It was time for me to release the strongholds of unforgiving.  It was a shackle that kept me from Living ON Purpose.  If the devil had his wicked way, I would have continued to spiral out of control and forget all the good things in my life that was worth living for.  All because I was consumed with resentment.
Nelson Mandela said it perfectly "Resentment is like drinking poison and hoping it kills your enemy." So if you are having trouble moving forward and finding purpose in your life, stop drinking the poison.

God bless and have an Unstoppable You day!

Your Legacy-Dysfunction or Inspiration

In my Unstoppable You Workshop, one of the topics that I address is Legacy.
According to Webster's Dictionary, Legacy means 1: A gift by will especially money or other personal property 2: Something transmitted by or received from an ancestor or predecessor or from the past.
With that being said, what are people inheriting from YOU? Is it DYSFUNCTION or INSPIRATION? What personal characteristics are you passing down to your children and grandchildren? Is it commitment, love, courage, perseverance? Or is it a lack of responsibility, laziness, hatred, and dirty family secrets? If it is dysfunction, then I want you to know it is not too late to change that legacy into inspiration. How do we make this happen? We must be honest with ourselves. In order to be Unstoppable, one must realize who they truly are and methodically pave a path free of shame, guilt, and confusion. Self-awareness leads to positive change which leads to growth. This is one way we can reduce a generation of lost, self-absorbed, and uncompassionate souls.
Have an Unstoppable You day!

How to Seek Joy Through Grateful Eyes

In my growth to seek joy and fulfillment in life, I have come to realize that complaining about a problem can be counterproductive when there is no action put forth to find a solution.  I admit that I have been guilty of complaining and wallowing in self-pity because something was not as I saw it should be.  With that type of attitude, nothing will ever be good enough.  It's in these moments that I had to look in the mirror and self-reflect.  Seeking joy is all about perspective.  Is the glass half empty or half full?  There are positive and amazing things happening around me every day if I take the time to see it.  Seeing through grateful eyes allows me to be still and enjoy these opportunities.  Of course, I would like to be debt free with a wealthy bank account, bigger house, and fancy cars.   But even the richest people with these items are lonely and depressed.  However, what I do have are loving and supportive family and friends.  They are my "A Team" who are willing to come along side my vision and cheer me on as well as pick me up when I struggle to push forward.  The encouragement I receive is a blessing, and no amount of money can replace that.

So how can you seek joy through grateful eyes?

1. If you can read this post, then you were blessed to wake up, while having the mental, emotional and physical ability to comprehend it.

2. Put things in perspective and realize your situation could be worse.

3. Appreciate the little things, like the beauty and scent of a flower.  If you can't appreciate the small things, how can you enjoy the big things?

4. Love yourself unconditionally regardless of mistakes and failures.  You are fearfully and wonderfully made.

5. Find something to smile and laugh about every day.  Laughter is some of the best medicine and it doesn't need to be covered by insurance to get it.

6. Get centered with your mind, body and soul.  It is important to realize that when we are in alignment spiritually, mentally, emotionally and physically, it is hard for the devil to knock us off balance.  By being in alignment, this allows our eyes to focus and see with clarity what is true.

7. Last but certainly not least, understand that God is faithful.  His mercy and grace is more than enough.  When you look at the big picture of your life, it was designed specifically to make you stronger, wiser and polished like a diamond.

I pray these seven steps provide insight and inspiration.  Although it has taken some time and my journey has been long, I can see clearly.  I am grateful I am not where I once was.  I am grateful to share my testimony.

The Purpose and Power of Pushing Forward

I would be lying if I told you challenges never crossed my path.  Or that I never thought about giving up.  Matter of fact, not only would I be lying to you, but myself as well.  Oh how I wish life was smooth and easy.  Or that everything went my way all according to plan.  But it wouldn't be realistic.  If it did, would I appreciate it?  For every disappointment, my faith was shaken.  For every setback, I get discouraged and can't see the forest from the trees.  Fear, worry and doubt set in and I become distracted.  I want to throw up my hands in frustration and yell "What's the use!"   It sure doesn't help when the devil finds me when I am most vulnerable and whispers in my ear "Why bother."

Although, I have many reasons to throw in the towel, the reasons to keep pushing forward outweighed them.  There is purpose and power in pushing forward.  It's having faith in what I can't see and believing it is bigger than what I can see with the naked eye.  It's realizing that after the storm comes sunshine and peace.  It's appreciating every achievement because the journey to success was long and difficult.  It's believing that when one door closes another is opening wide just for me to walk through.  It's understanding that with God on my side, I can move mountains and cross the widest rivers.  Just like a mother giving birth to her beautiful child, she pushes even in pain.  She pushes when it's not comfortable.  She pushes exhausted and feels like she can't go on.  She pushes because the seed that was planted has grown and is now ready to be birthed.

So I push even when my knees buckle!
I push with tears streaming down my face!
I push because having regrets is not an option!
I push forward because I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
The purpose and power of pushing forward was worth it because I am stronger, wiser and abundantly blessed!
